Children's Festival Comes To Markham

The Milliken Children's Festival is this weekend.
Now in its ninth year, the festival is York Region’s largest children’s event, featuring entertainment, crafts and activities for everyone from two to 12.
It’s free and includes children’s performers, face-painting and balloon creatures, hair braiding and henna art.
The festival runs Saturday at the Milliken Mills Community Centre, 7600 Kennedy Rd. from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Car Rally In Markham

The Main Street Markham Auto Classic Car Rally in Support of the T&T Charity Foundation. September 9th $50.00 Tax Deductible Entry Fee Registration 8:30am First Car Departs 9:00am

This event is a five stage car rally for show participants and other car enthusiasts who wish to participate in a fun, light hearted 90 minute "Sunday Morning Drive" in the local Markham Rd. area. The event is a combination of some of the more fun aspects of car rallying and includes a Navigational Poker Run with a Scavenger Hunt theme and a few extra surprises to keep the event light hearted and fun for all participants. Registration for the Rally Component is $50.00 per vehicle with all fees collected going directly to the Thomas & Tallis Charity Foundation supporting programs for youth sport and education in Markham. Space is limited to the first 40 vehicles, car show participants will depart first and have a reserved location for there vehicle on main street at the completion of the rally. Prizes will be awarded on the Main Stage to the car (Driver and Navigator) in three categories for the most points collected based on each leg of the course. The categories are Over All Winner, Vintage Car (Most Points in Class) and an open class Poker Run. More Information. Markham Jazz Festival

From June 26-28, Markham resident Harry James ran on an elliptical machine, to raise money for The Centre For Dreams. Every day, Harry was on the elliptical from 4am - 4pm. CHEV Radio was there.

The Centre For Dreams is an organization that provides educational opportunities to adults with special needs. The centre strives to focus on their members' abilities and not their disabilities.

JOIN US FOR A FREE COMMUNITY SKATE

Join Chief Armand La Barge, Toronto Maple Leaf Alumni, YRP Mascots and members of the Markham Waxers Provincial Junior “A” Hockey Club for the second annual York Regional Police Free Community Skate.

York Regional Police recognizes the benefits of families and communities spending quality time together. Enjoying family time, getting to know members of our community and spending time with local heroes and role models like police officers, celebrities and sports figures, helps build strong, safe, vibrant communities.

After the holiday season our local Food Banks’ supplies are at their lowest levels, yet the need for their assistance by the less fortunate of our community lasts all year long. As this event was very successful last year, the York Regional Police is using the opportunity to help this important cause by inviting all who attend this free event to be “Heroes Partnering with Heroes” by bringing a donation of non-perishable food items for our local Food Drive.

Free coffee, hot chocolate and snacks will be available

The York Regional Police Free Community Skate will take place between 2:00p.m. and 4:00pm on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the Angus Glen Community Centre, 3990 Major MacKenzie Drive East in the Town of Markham.
