Slapshot Meets The Mayor

In other news, we've listed some computer monitors on eBay. They're fully working and in great condition. We just don't have the space for them.

If you're looking for a new screen, just head to www.ebay.ca, type in "computer monitors" and look for anything listed by "chevradio."

CHEV appreciates the support

Dan checking in,

According to several reports, the website we call home (www.chevradioam.com) has received numerous hits this month alone. What would we call 'numerous' is a number well into the hundreds of thousands. Not to mention, the month still has about 52.5 Hours left to go. We thank you for the continuing support. Our sponsors are nothing short of pleased to hear about these results.

As the hits continue to pile up, the ultimate goal is to push it into the billions someday. But let's start with the million barrier and work from there.

I hope everyone is having a good night. Make sure to wake up or tune in at 9AM at work when I make you all sports geniuses. Don't worry, it will come naturally. Cheers.

Does Anyone Have Mike Vanderjagt's Phone Number

Former Toronto Argonaut and Indianapolis Colt, Mike Vanderjagt, was let go by the Dallas Cowboys yesterday. The Oakville native is regarded as one of the most accurate field goal kickers in the NFL. Unfortunately, things weren't going well this season and Dallas decided it was time for a change.

So, Mike is looking for a job. Maybe he'll join a team in the NFL, CFL, NFL Europe, or the Arena leagues. Or maybe, he wants to settle down from playing and find another job that's connected to football. Might I suggest, CHEV radio's football expert.

It's perfect! He'll get to come in and give his opinions on what's happening during the season. Vanderjagt has the experience of playing in the Canadian and American leagues. He would be great for the role.

Mike, if you're reading this, send an e-mail to info@chevradioam.com and we'll hook you up.

Wild Weekend

This past weekend was jammed pack for the CHEV crew.

It started on Friday with the Waxers holding on for a win against the North York Rangers. A good crowd came out to the Centennial Arena as both teams received constant support from their fans. Chris was doing some solid play-by-play, while I was keeping an eye on Slapshot and making sure he wasn't getting into any trouble. Meanwhile, Dan was working the board and our web designer, Kim, was adding some more links to our website.

By the way, have you checked out www.chevradioam.com? It's got everything you need including schedules, bios and up-to-date forecasts from The Weather Network.

Saturday was our first doubleheader.

We had another Waxers game, and then it was off to Sgt. Peppers for our Live-to-air. This week's performer was Grant Fullerton, who provided some great tunes from the worlds of Blues and Rock. Take my advice, if you're at Peppers, order the Bruschetta. It is pretty darn good.

Myself, Dan, Daniel (production/technical staff), Kim and Chris want to say that we enjoyed meeting everyone who came out to Peppers. We hope you had a great time.

See you next Saturday.

TGIF/Where's Eric?

I sit here today on my final day without Mr. Johnny Legend's morning show as he is on vacation. That gives me the chance to work off the big computer today. Though today feels a bit empty as Eric get's an early start to the weekend until he has to bring his ass into the station tonight.

This week has been a theme of Canadian music as I've pretty much played music all week to pump me up before the show (Monday: Loverboy - Tuesday: Bryan Adams - Wednesday: Gowan - Thursday: Nobody - Friday: The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive). Had to play two classic bands to make up for the lost day of Thursday where I was listening to CHEV shows all morning.

So I sit here this morning pretty much alone in the station, prepared for another big sports day. Have a great weekend everyone and be sure to check out the hockey game tonight at 7:30 and tomorrow at 7:30 with a Live-To-Air live at Sgt Peppers right after the game.

Mid-Show crisis

I am in the middle of my show as I currently 'Mail it in'. Eric is taking this segment over and this give me time to kick back and bust out a blog.

What do I do next? It's called Top 5. Check me out 9AM-Noon every weekday live on www.chevradioam.com.

Is Eric really talking about wrestling?

Dan Deeley: Your Next Canadian Idol

Before the start of BTN, Dan belts out the classics. Today, he was showing off his devotion to legendary Canadian '80's band, Loverboy. He might not have the best voice; however, what he lacks in vocals, he makes up with stage presence.

I think Dan should try out for Canadian Idol. In my humble opinion, he has what it takes to be the next Kalan Porter; except for the long, blond curly hair and violin.

But here's the thing, Dan doesn't want to do it. So, we need something to convince him to try out for Canadian Idol. In other words, peer pressure.

Therefore, if you think Dan Deeley should be the next Canadian Idol, send him an e-mail to chevradionoise@gmail.com.

Come on, everyone. A bunch of e-mails might be all it takes for the nation to discover their next musical "star."

GOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL

We've got a soccer show coming soon to the CHEV radio airwaves. Right now, the tentative timeslot is Thursdays from 9-11pm. If all goes well, the program will kick off near the end of the month. It' s good timing given the fact that the Toronto FC begin play in seven months.

The Waxers host the Durham Fury tonight. Catch all the action starting at 7:25pm on www.chevradioam.com. Chris Hrynk has the play-by-play.

CHEV is also live-to-air from Sgt. Peppers ( 5694 Highway 7), Saturday, 10pm - 2am. Come on out to hear some great music and meet some of the CHEV folk. Trust me, they're really nice.

Eric Out.

Slapshot's Family

It turns out that Slapshot The Bear, the beloved mascot of the Markham Waxers, has a brother. The sibling is also named Slapshot and supports the Fayetteville Fireantz of the Southern Professional Hockey League. Not much of resemblance, eh?

Looks like brothers from different mothers. I like our Slapshot better.

Slinging Projectiles

Dan here,

Nothing like tossing things at Eric for messing up some perfectly straight-up sports.

For some reason, I enjoy singing about random stuff. Should I just sing for once segment a week or something? Seriously, that would be comical. My singing voice is about as pleasant as constipation.

The next time Eric messes up a massive newscast I will squeeze his nipples without a thought of letting go. Until the commercial break ends, of course.

Bring The Noise: 9AM-Noon Live every Weekday.

Oops....

Accidentally told people that the Raptors lost to the Kings, last night. I meant to say the Raptors lost to the Warriors. The funny part of the whole incident was that I didn't realize my mistake until Dan threw the second deadly projectile at my head.

My mistake; just one of the fun things of live radio.

Getting to know Bring The Noise

Greetings,

I am pleased to welcome each and every one of you who have taken the time to check out CHEV Radio's blog as well as the website, www.chevradioam.com.

Seeing that our blog is done with a variety of CHEV Radio staff, I thought this would be a good time to talk about my show and how it came about.

The show made its debut back on March 6, 2006. My partner at the time, Launy, came up with the name of the show. We had our ups and downs as a tandem but our sports discussions were never dull. Every show, rain or shine, sick or healthy, we brought it.

Near the end of June, Launy and I parted ways and I continued on with the show as a solo act. I've been lucky enough to have Eric Rosenhek as my News guy since September.

The show surrounds itself with all sports for now. When the time is right, more and more local sports will be discussed along with local athletes in the area. My goal is to make sure all Markham area club teams as well as high school sports are talked about and covered on a daily basis.

Sometimes looking at the dynamics of a radio station can be pretty overwhelming for those attempting to start from scratch. I can speak on behalf of the entire staff and say that our vision for a successful local radio station has never been more clear than it is today. We look forward to making that a reality.

My show is on from 9AM-Noon and if you have a love for sports or want to learn about it, I am the perfect show for you. I guarantee you will get something out of it.

The Skinny Bee Show

Dan and I are enjoying a clip of what appears to be a combination of Super Mario Brothers and Grand Theft Auto. If only there was a game like this when I was young.

Anyway, a brand new show made it's debut on the CHEV airwaves yesterday: The Skinny Bee Show.

Hosts Skinny and Bee will talk your ears off on random, wide ranging topics. These Markham boys also reach out to the community and would love to talk about the town they know and love.
The show airs every Sunday from 8-9pm on www.chevradioam.com

And don't forget the standard: Bring The Noise; 9am-12pm (8-11pm replay), Monday to Friday. Dan Deeley talks sports with a swagger that everyone has come to know and love. Yours truly does news, sports and weather every thirty minutes.

Just want to remind you that CHEV has Markham Waxers Hockey. Tonight's opponents are the St. Mikes Buzzers. Will the Waxers be able to win three in a row? Find out tonight, starting at 7:25pm on www.chevradioam.com. As always, Chris Hrynk will have your play-by-play.

PS: Don't forget, CHEV goes Live-to-Air from Sgt. Peppers every Saturday night from 10pm - 2am. Come on down to hear some great music and meet some of the CHEV staff. Did I mention it's a webcast? That's right! Every Saturday, we've got the audio and visual.
